Putt4dough marks an important occasion on the industry calendar of events, attracting the who’s who of the industry and has grown to be a widely recognised, respected, well attended and much-loved event that promotes and celebrates collaboration within and adjacent to the sector. Held on Tuesday, 23 November 2021 at Joondalup Resort Country Club, the event takes over the 27-hole championship golf course with dramatic contrasts, beautiful scenery and sheer golfing challenges. The spectacular golf course sweeps across dense bushland, cuts through steep limestone quarries and skirts picturesque lakes, to present surprises and challenges at almost every turn. One minute you are playing an approach shot beneath a 30-metre limestone cliff, the next you are adapting to the fresh ocean breeze on an undulating links style fairway.
The game for this event will be known as 4-Ball Ambrose. “Ambrose” is another name for scramble, but one in which a team handicap is used. Players tee off in groups of four, known as teams. The best shot is selected and the four players in the team hit again from that same spot. The best second shot is selected, and players hit from that same spot, and so on until the ball is holed. Normally, the handicaps used in 4-Person Ambrose are a fraction of the total handicaps of the team members serving as one handicap for the team. The handicaps of the four players are added together and divided by 8. For putt4dough we use the Joondalup Country Club’s Revolutionary Handicapping System to determine the handicaps.
The event format commences with the golf tournament from 11am onwards, offers a post-golf networking opportunity, and a formal dinner that delights with extraordinary Master of Ceremonies and a special guest speaker. Prizes are awarded to the champion golfers of the day and then follows with an exciting auction, ballot and raffle and concludes with a final celebration by announcing the total funds raised and presenting Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation with a big cheque.
Putt4dough’s simple, effective, and successful formula has raised over $494,000 since inception, and in 2021 aims to further its funding impact for the Hospital with a big celebration for raising over 1/2 million dollars.
