From a line-up of the region’s best junior chefs Cameron Wetton and Jade Hugi Ferguson, from Joondalup Resort, have won the WA cook-off in the 2012 Nestlé Golden Chef’s Hat Award, securing themselves an all expenses paid trip to Melbourne, during Fine Food Week next month, to represent the state in the National Final.
Cameron is the three-time defending champion of the Golden Chef’s Hat title, a feat never before achieved in the four-decade history of the respected national competition.
Going head-to-head with nine other young chef teams in a cook-off challenge at West Coast Institute of Training (WCIT) kitchens, the two talented apprentices will now have their skills put to the ultimate test against Australia’s best at the National Final.
Using only the ingredients available to them on the day, competing chef teams had to create a sumptuous three-course meal to impress the judging panel, including Nestlé chefs, local restaurateurs and members of the Australian Culinary Federation.
Congratulations to Jade & Cameron and all the best in the National Final.
